Baltimore primary day quiet as candidates await results
In Baltimore the 1978 primary cycle opened with polls at 7 am and candidates left the campaigning to voters. J Glenn Beall Jr led Republicans with little travel, while four Democratic contenders offered few statements and spent the day meeting voters in the metropolitan area. Several statewide races and many local offices were on ballots, but many candidates faced no primary opposition including Lews L Goldstein for comptroller and three GOP members of Congress who would face Democrats in November.
