James Caniford honored as Frederick County's only MIA
The Frederick Chapter of Vietnam Veterans of America hosts a POW MIA recognition at Memorial Park to honor James Caniford, Frederick County's sole Vietnam War MIA. The 24 year old senior master sergeant disappeared March 29, 1972 after his Air Force plane was shot down over the Ho Chi Minh Trail in southern Laos. Relatives remember him with a bracelet worn daily by Sandy Krantz, who keeps the red symbol for Laos worn thin yet shining beneath.
