In Tunis AP reports the PLO and Israel reached agreement on mutual recognition aiding a Palestinian autonomy plan. A senior PLO official and Hassan Asfour confirmed the Paris agreement with Norway as mediator. A Rabin cabinet decision was possible Sunday.

Mexican teens begin yearlong transition at Visitation Academy
About 14 Mexican teenagers, ages 14 to 15 from Mexico City Guadalajara and Puebla, arrived for a yearlong stay at Visitation Academy in Frederick. The students, in grades six to eight, will live in a dormitory with sisters as provisional parents while adjusting to English, new surroundings, and American school life. One student, Christiane Atala, spoke of initial excitement turning to sadness at leaving family, hoping the transition will speed.

Wal-Mart plans cleared for Evergreen Point Frederick site
The Frederick County Planning Commission approved a 125000 square foot Wal-Mart store on 11 acres near Evergreen Point with a 222 employee forecast, garden center and auto service area. The project includes 800+ parking spaces and a future 58000 square foot expansion, plus roadwork to connect Md 85 to New Design Road. Plans call for Md 85 widening and turn lanes to ease access along the I-70 to I-270 corridor, while a satellite maintenance depot proposal was rejected.
