Middletown Valley School Project Embraces Citizen Involvement
Frederick County Board of Education built a large new Middletown Valley campus with 56 acres added to 20, forming a single complex. An 18 member citizen committee, staff adviser T Meade Felton, studied across Frederick Howard Cecil counties and Indiana schools, yielding 19 recommendations. The plan called for designing all facilities at once and using a Systems Approach, with K M Associates chosen as architects after board approval. The input session encouraged public participation, seen as a break with tradition and a win for long term school needs.
