Detour Girl Crash Victim Dies In Highway Collision
A 19 year old Detour girl Elma Robertson died from a crushed chest after a car driven by Moritz Ritterbusch, 23, failed to navigate a curve and struck an embankment near Rocky Ridge Maryland 77 at 12 10 am Sunday. Ritterbusch charged with operating under the influence and manslaughter by motor vehicle. He posted $1000 bond. Robertson pronounced dead at the scene by the Frederick County Medical Examiner. The county also recorded a prior holiday fatality, a Waynesboro Pa man found dead in a car.

Pope Paul VI accepted the resignation of Richard Cardinal Cushing due to age and health. Humberto Medeiros, bishop of Brownsville since 1966, was named to succeed him in Boston. North Viet Commando Assault Hits Da Nang Bases
More than 200 North Vietnamese commandos attacked a South Vietnamese district headquarters and a ranger camp south of Da Nang.
