Wayne vs Wayne in Brunswick council special election
The Brunswick special election on Tuesday pits Wayne Hawes against Wayne Dougherty for a town council seat. Polls at the fire hall run 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. The vacancy followed Bob Purdum’s August resignation, and Joe Harrington previously won the seat of Jesse Thompson. Both candidates back annexation to curb expenses and taxes, with Hawes stressing experience on the board of appeals and Dougherty urging fair trash billing. Mayor Goodrich notes a $500 election cost.
