MARC extension cost to Frederick tops estimates at $50 million

Frederick County officials told commissioners that extending MARC commuter rail from Point of Rocks to Frederick would cost about 50 million, more than double last year’s 20 million projection. The plan calls for two stops along the 13 mile route, with entry into service by 1998 pending funding. Construction would start in 1996 after right of way is acquired, with preliminary engineering due by June 1995.
