Beautified 1840s Frederick home at 222 East Patrick Street
Doug Green profiles Mrs. Susan Phebus’s Federal period house built circa 1840 to 1850. The restoration used chemicals to preserve salmon brick, with a restored front facade, green door, dentil trimmed entrance, 2 over 2 sash windows, and a rear JIB door opening to gardens. Brick paving, a herringbone pattern, brick patio, formal garden, and central fountain enhance the grounds. Interior retains brick kitchen fireplace and a boxed rear stairway.
