County expands jail buffer with two land purchases
Frederick County Commissioners bought 565 acres along Md 85 in front of the Adult Detention Center for 115 million from Charles B and Sally Smith Thomas. The deal includes a farmhouse, guest house, outbuildings, and a spring house. An adjoining 43 acre tract was acquired for 569,544 in August from the same owners to create a county facility buffer and support expansion plans.
