Mount Airy man held in shooting at grandmother
A 53-year-old woman, Anna Jane Bailey of Mount Airy, was shot in the stomach by her grandson Howard Burns, 19, using a .22 rifle late Monday night. She survived and was flown to Shock Trauma in Baltimore in satisfactory condition. Burns was charged with multiple assault and endangerment counts after a chase along Md 26 and US 1 near Rosemont Avenue. a rifle was recovered from his car and he is held at Frederick County Adult Detention Center.
