Prisoner of Second Avenue review at National Theatre
Richard Leichert reviews Neil Simon's The Prisoner of Second Avenue starring Peter Falk and Lee Grant at the National, directed by Mike Nichols. The piece notes the play shifts from comedy to satire, focuses on Mel and Edna Edison amid urban stress, and highlights the standout scene with Mel's sisters and brother Harry, plus the potential for a commercial hit and a shift toward sharper satire.
