A single aircraft disaster claims the lives of all 19 people aboard marking the greatest number killed in a single American air tragedy. Authorities report no survivors as investigators begin determining cause and implications for aviation safety.
Exhausted workmen began the grim task of recovering the nineteen victims from a luxury airliner that crashed on Chalk peak in the Uinta mountains eighty miles east of Salt Lake City. Pilot Ralph Johnson led a night trek through treacherous snow to confirm all aboard were dead. Bodies, mail, and remains of the ship will be brought to Knight Wyoming airport and then to Evanston mortuary.

Snowden is jailed on warrants for breaking and larceny and suspected to have stolen cigars and beer. He reportedly has a prior record including a House of Correction term for larceny of an overcoat.

Lester Edds a 19 year old colored man was sentenced to life for murder in Loudoun County Circuit Court after a gunpoint hold up led to a death. Commonwealth Attorney Charles Harrison urged the sentence following the trial’s end. John Winner, tied to the case, was also implicated and will face trial Thursday in the Loudoun County Court.
