Residents resist eviction at C O Canal Park protest
At the C O Canal National Historic Park visitors center residents facing eviction by the National Park Service protested in striped prison garb. They argue retention agreements from 1970s allowed them to stay, with expirations in 2001, while NPS aims to restore the land to its natural setting. Local residents cite hardship cases like Lettie Shores and question fairness relative to other parks. Congressman Bartlett plans further action.
