Frederick County reports $9 million surplus for FY 2000
Frederick County Comptroller Doug Browning announced a $9 million surplus from the FY 1998 budget now available for the FY 2000 budget. Income tax revenue rose about $1.2 million above earlier estimates, with gains in recordation taxes and highway user taxes also contributing. A bond rating agency reaffirmed the county’s bond rating, and departments returned $1 million in unused funds.
