Physician and Wife Slain by 18 Year Old in Daring Car Drive
Paul Dwyer, 18, of South Paris Maine confessed to killing elderly Dr John G Littlefield 65 and his wife Lydia 64 with a hammer. The youth drove their car through New England to New Jersey and hid the bodies, stuffing Dr Littlefield in the trunk and Mrs Littlefield under a rear seat. He claimed the pair were killed after an argument over a social disease and money. Authorities say Dwyer directed where to search and admitted the double murder after stopping the car for sleep in North Arlington. The motive and details center on the doctor’s remark and the woman’s suspicions during the two day drive.
