Catoctin Colorfest draws crowd and vendors in Thurmont
Local Colorfest attracted an estimated 200000 revelers over the weekend with temperatures in the 70s. more than 350 vendors showcased crafts across three sites Thurmont middle school Thurmont community park and the carnival grounds. organizers say about 20000 was raised for the Colorfest committee funds support community needs such as fire and rescue and scholarships. many vendors praised solid sales with some calling it among their best shows. visitors enjoyed food rides music and family activities as planners prepare for next year's Oct 11 12 edition.

Liberty Village Co housing breaks ground near Libertytown Park
Fifty people gathered Sunday to break ground on Liberty Village Way off Md 26. The 26 acre cohousing community will include 34 duplexes a single family home and a three story building with six units adapted for the disabled. Seventeen units are spoken for with six to eight more in financing. The project arose after the county changed zoning rules to allow consensus driven development.

MontCo men arrested on drug charges
Two 18 year old Gaithersburg men were arrested Saturday night by the Frederick County Sheriff's Office and charged with possession of marijuana. Christopher Gankler and Richard Clark were in a parked car at Urbana Lake off Dixon Road about 11 30 p m. Deputies released them on personal recognizance.
