Middletown commissioners voiced support for a curfew to curb juvenile delinquency after a meeting. A public hearing will be scheduled while they study Emmitsburg curfews for guidance. Deputy Sherill Schultz cited 10 to 15 repeat offenders vandalizing a park and causing late night disturbances.
Mount Airy Mayor Gerald Johnson vetoed an ordinance prohibiting organized sports in the streets, a measure approved unanimously by the town council at its Oct. 7 meeting. He sent copies of the ordinance to each council member without his signature.
In Baker Park Frederick a 1500 square foot Rhoades Memorial Garden was dedicated by Jamie and Michael Rhoades to L Clinton and Mary Jane Rhoades. The garden between Culler Fountain and the carillon bell tower features flowers benches lights and walkways and took two years to complete. Michael Rhoades said the site honors his parents and reflects a permanent community gift. The dedication drew about 30 people with Deanne Price of Friends of continuing on Page A-9.

Maryland State Police seek two white male youths in their mid to late teens who robbed a 7-Eleven in the Green Valley Shopping Center at Md 80 and Lynn Burke Road. One suspect is 5 foot 7 to 5 foot 9 with a brown coat and blue bandanna. the other is 5 foot 7 with a medium build.
The Frederick Planning Commission voted 4-1 to approve a Sheetz gas station and 4085 square foot convenience store on 1.3 acres at Rosemont Avenue and Shookstown Road after hearings and a Court of Appeals ruling guiding changes. Access will come via an extension of Wilson Place, aligned with curb lines to fit the Rosemont intersection.
Paul Nemoga, a volunteer pilot with AirLifeLine, flew a girl with 80 percent burns to Shriners Hospital in Boston. The nonprofit, based in California, has completed over 10 000 missions since 1978, funding fuel and landing fees with pilots covering costs. In two years, Nemoga has transported eight pediatric patients, with parents accompanying each flight.
Mr. Nemaga notes most trips begin at Dulles International Airport heading to Shriners Hospital in Boston. He says he is available but has not yet been asked to transport organs.
CSX Corp agrees to pay 8.4 billion dollars in cash and stock for Conrail Inc, creating a dominant freight carrier serving 22 states with a 29 600 mile network and annual revenue over 14 billion dollars. Shareholders would receive 92.50 per Conrail share, with completion expected in late 1997, pending approvals.

Miss Josephine Pearce Richison, 92, longtime head of Frederick’s C Burr Artz Library, died Sunday at Homewood Retirement Center after a 30 year directorship ending with her 1967 retirement. The library opened as a 15,000 volume facility in 1938 and grew to nearly 100,000 volumes.
