Rothenhoefer Cleared of Negligence Claim

Maryland Attorney General Francis B. Burch released a 15 page summary finding that Rothenhoefer was exonerated of criminal wrongdoing in an assault and battery case from 1970. The report cites confusion and lack of action by involved parties as the basis for an unfortunate situation. The inquiry followed Betty Mae Crouse’s 1971 complaint alleging a special deputy sheriff assaulted her daughter on February 28, 1976. her daughter Linda Mae died March 8, 1970 from a non related illness.

Michigan Man Dies At Wheel On U S 40 Near Frederick

A 65 year old Michigan man, Andy Dodge of Charlotte, collapsed and died at the wheel of his car on U S 40 near the Md 144 exit into Frederick. Passengers stopped the vehicle and Dodge was taken to Frederick Memorial Hospital.

Wards Plans Opening Nov 10 in Frederick Towne Mall

Four key appointments for the new Montgomery Ward store opening November 10 at Frederick Towne Mall were announced by manager Edward A. Donohue. Vance L. Starkey becomes operating manager with prior posts in Morgantown and Parkersburg. Jay A. Gettig is merchandise manager for soft lines and home furnishings from Seven Corners, Thomas J.
