Cosby Tops Simpsons In First Season Duel Rating Battle
In NBCs The Cosby Show NCbs Simpsons head-to-head clash Foxs animated hit trails but holds its own in early season ratings. Cosby earned an 18.5 national rating Thursday just above Simpsons by tenth of a point with Fox claiming a 18.4. Both networks expect Cosby victory in full national figures. Fox executives say Simpsons start beat expectations given heavy promotion. Columbo repeat and Dark Avenger aired as lead-ins with limited impact on the night.
