The body of Pfc. Pie Owen A Nichols, 22, son of Mrs. Bessie E Nichols of 108 A West Patrick street, Frederick, arrives in San Francisco aboard the USS Honda Knot en route to Philadelphia for reinterment. He died July 24, 1945, in a Burma road accident. Burial planned in Mt Olver Cemetery. The first WWII dead to be returned to Frederick County, with military funeral support and guards of honor, as 3,028 to 3,628 caskets are processed for final rest.
