The Williams siblings John E. Williams Jr and Judy Williams led a brother-sister sweep in the H Dairy Cattle Fitting and Showing Contest at the Great Frederick Fair. Allen Culler placed third overall, with Bonnie Lou Zimmerman winning the first year fitting and showing contest. Individual breed winners included Webster MacCartee Jr in Ayrshire juniors and Judy Williams as Ayrshire senior breed champion, among others across Brown Swiss Guernsey Holstein Jersey Milking Shorthorn divisions.

Baltimore Police training grant approved for recruits
The Department of Labor approved a $129 581 grant to retrain 100 potential Baltimore City police recruits who failed the civil service exam but were physically qualified, announced Monday by Rep Edward A Garmatz.

Three Counties Divide FFA Judging Wins
High school teams from Washington and Frederick Counties and individuals from Frederick Montgomery and Washington Counties won top honors at the FFA regional judging contests at the Frederick fair. Dairy cattle honors went to South Hagerstown High School with George Nicholson Jr. of Walkersville High as top individual. Towson Maryland AP reports Republican state senate candidate Howard C Zachmann accuses Baltimore County officials of failing to publicize an eight hour registration session held last week in Essex. The session added 223 voters to the registration list as he campaigns against Democratic State Sen James A Pine. No comment was obtained from election board officials.
