Two Frederick men Edwin A Tyree and James R Moore were charged with grand larceny and breaking and entering after a jewelry store burglary at Remsbergs. Officers Woodrow Smith and Roger Wickes responded to 12:45 am break in on West Patrick Street observing Tyree with a tray of rings worth 700 dollars. Moore was arrested nearby.

Firemen Find Smoke No Fire At Shawnee Drive Home
Smoke and a burning odor were detected in the basement of a residence at 813 Shawnee Drive as three local fire companies from United Citizens and junior units responded at 10 am. Mrs. Melvin L. Rice, wife of the homeowner, said no flames were seen and investigators continued examining the basement for the source of the smell.

A 16 year old Monrovia boy remained unconscious and in extremely poor condition for a second day after being beaten in a fight Thursday night at the Frederick Fairgrounds State Police Corporal Henry Stafford said Ronnie Lee Sier and several friends bumped shoulders with another group. He was knocked to the ground and kicked in the head by two boys. Deputies know the individuals but no charges were filed until his condition clarifies. A neurosurgeon said he showed some improvement today after moving in his bed.

A 24 year old Frederick man James Roberts of West Patrick Street was shot in the right thigh at about 4 45 am in Klinehart's Alley between Fifth and Sixth streets.
