Motorist Fined 100 By Magistrate In Drunken Driving Case

Magistrate Alton Y Bennett remanded Walter Mouzan of Philadelphia to jail after he pleaded guilty to drunken driving though a 100.75 dollar fine was available. Mouzan was arrested Saturday evening at the Square by Officer Sherman Boone who testified the driver backed into a parked car then narrowly missed a pedestrian before being seized. A merchant offered to pay the fine if Mouzan stayed jailed until friends could arrive as guarantee against further trouble. The magistrate said the jail term could not be ordered if the fine was paid and imposed 60 days in jail with payout on bail conditions. Also noted is a late note about a butchering at Charles F Spurrier’s home near Mount Pleasant on Nov. 14 with numerous attendees listed.
