Frederick County Red Cross announces a relief fund benefiting La Plata tornado survivors. A 325 contribution from Frederick County Chapter will be forwarded, with additional gifts sought from the county. National Red Cross aid arrived within 90 minutes and funds cover funerals and medical needs as rehab work shifts to national relief. Contributions to State Senator A LeRoy McCardell, treasurer of the local chapter, are encouraged. Maryland aims to raise most funds locally, with a total of 23000 needed nationwide for the storm area.
