Fulton Lewis Jr Claims Election Victory For American People
Radio commentator Fulton Lewis Jr told about two hundred Rotarians and guests at the Francis Scott Key ballroom that the November 7 election was a win for the American people not the Republican party. He argued that pressure from minority groups cannot buy votes and criticized leftists and labor bosses while praising midddle‑of‑the‑road conservatives. Lewis asserted Truman’s labor‑backed policy failed, urged Acheson and Brannan removal, and predicted a new, realignment‑driven Congress with broad reforms to the Marshall plan and unions.
