Monongahela City Pa Nov 16 seven workers perish in a gas explosion at Brazwell Coal Company’s new shaft near Beauleyville. Ed Farragut day boss and six others are dead or missing. one outside the mine also killed. Fire damp and ignited lamps caused a violent blast lifting timber and wrecking the tipple. Most likely instant death for those inside. an outside death from falling tipple confirmed. Inspectors suspect fire damp ignition possibly from an open torch despite safety lamps.
