Culler and Derr Rites Arranged in Tragic Collision
Funeral services for Frederick county figures Mr. and Mrs. David E Derr and Mrs. Thomas P Culler will be held Saturday after a fatal crash seven miles from Vineland New Jersey. The sole survivor, 18 year old Gilbert Mazzoni, will face reckless killing charges. The victims were en route to a National Grange meeting in Atlantic City when their Packard collided with a truck on a stop sign controlled intersection. All three victims died shortly after admission to area hospitals. The tragedy casts a pall over the community with many canceling Grange plans and the deceased noted for long service to Ballenger Grange and local homemaker groups.

Reese St. Clair Poffenbarger pastor of Union Bridge Keysville and Rocky Ridge Lutheran charge died Wednesday night at 11 at his son's home near Woodsboro He was 71 and widely known in Frederick Carroll and Washington counties He suffered a cerebral hemorrhage four weeks earlier and was moved from Frelson Memorial Hospital to his son's home He born March 6 1880 in Washington County and a Gettysburg College and seminary graduate ordained 1905 He served Woodsboro Virginia and Pennsylvania churches before Maryland and had retired then temporarily led Union Bridge charge until his death Survived by second wife Maude Dutrow Albaugh Poffenbarger and children Ridgely Hypatia Helen Hannah Wilhelmina Nancy Reese Jr Jeannette 21 grandchildren two great grandchildren one brother Jesse Guy Poffenbarger Bethesda and one sister Katherine Dagenhbart Rohrersville Interment in Mt Hope Woodsboro with service by Dr J F Fife.

Shrine circus moves animals after Miss Truman allergy
NEW ORLEANS November 15. Shrine circus animals entered the municipal auditorium after a ban due to Margaret Truman's animal allergy. Seals horses dogs and elephants were moved to a nearby lot last night while Miss Truman attended a concert. Auditorium manager William Coker said a Secret Service man informed him of the allergy and he ordered the animals out. He even removed his Doberman Pincher named Harry, the president's hound, from the site.

James H Belcher of Dickerson filed in Circuit Court a 10000 damages suit against Henry Morningstar after a February 11 collision on Route 240 near Evergreen Point.
