Rites Sunday For Soldier Killed In 1944
The remains of Sergt. Jacob Worthington Shinnick of Frederick will receive military honors Sunday at 2 PM. He was an armorer and turret gunner on a B-17 of the 15th Air Force and died in a daylight raid on a German refinery complex in 1944. His body was found in a mass grave near the target. burial will follow at Mt Olivet cemetery with services at the East Patrick street funeral home attended by family and former comrades.
