A Frederick County Jap beetle control committee was named to plan a beetle suppression program for next year. G. Frank Thomas was chosen as chairman with Merril H. Ramsburg and Lawrence H. Baltimore November 12 uP The United States Circuit Court of Appeals considered Clarence Bernard's sixth bid for freedom following his 1943 larceny conviction and riot sentence at the House of Correction. His habeas corpus actions reached the Supreme Court twice and the Maryland Court of Appeals once, with petitions also filed in Federal Court and Baltimore City Court seeking to overturn an additional five year term.
