England on the brink of bankruptcy warned by banker
Charles C. Fisher told Group 2 of the Maryland Bankers Association that England is near national bankruptcy under 45 years of gradual socialism. He warned of a move toward a totalitarian state, with Labour control of major industries, high taxation, rationing, and loss of freedoms. Fisher argued Churchill and the Conservatives cannot reverse the trend, urging cuts in social services and government expenditure. The talk covered Labour origins, welfare state growth, and the looming two party system collapse.
