Boy Bitten By Dogs Remains Critical at Frederick Hospital
Donald Smith nine, of Mt. Pleasant area, was mauled by three dogs Tuesday morning near his home. He underwent surgery to close about 125 injuries and remains in critical condition at Frederick Memorial Hospital. Authorities plan to crack down on loose dogs. one attacker dog was killed and others held for rabies tests.

Fort Detrick Soldier Charged With Drunken Driving
Fort Detrick soldier Irven Shue aged 35 was charged by City Police with drunken driving failing to stop for a stop sign and speeding after his 1958 Buick ran a stop sign at Military road and West Seventh street struck a parked 1950 Chevrolet owned by fellow Fort Detrick rider Joseph Conner and tore through the fort fence causing minor damages to the fence and vehicles. The incident occurred at 12 27 a m. Police said he was driving at an excessive speed prior to the collision.

Frederick County largest taxpayers pay over a quarter of taxes
Potomac Edison leads six biggest taxpayers in Frederick County. For 1963 total net property tax revenue was about 4.641 million dollars, with the six largest taxpayers paying 1.2148 million, or 26 percent. Datarina Edison topped the list at 642,769.62, about 18 percent, followed by C and P Telephone, AT&T, Farmers and Mechanics National Bank, and Ox Fibre. The tax on real estate for Potomac Edison was 1.927 million with remaining due from personal property. Certification of assessments is by the State Department of Assessments and Taxation.

County Budget Slashes Hit Board of Education Hardest

U S Faces Decision On South Viet Nam Recognition
The State Department said the new South Viet Nam government asked for U S recognition and response is under active consideration. U S Ambassador Lodge in Saigon received a note from the Foreign Ministry as formalities move to completion within a day or two. In Saigon, the revolutionary government claimed Diem and Nhu died by accidental action during a guard’s pistol struggle, challenging murder theories.
