Your Home Furnishings May Be Worth More Than You Think
A public service note from the Frederick County Association of Insurance Agents urges readers to appraise furniture, clothing, and personal effects. It cites a 10 year old American Home study showing a family of four with $6,800 income had furnishings valued at $16,188 to replace. After depreciation some value remains, and homeowners policies may insure contents at 40 percent of home value. Independent agents can advise on proper coverage and premiums. Readers may send questions to The Frederick News-Post.
