Memorial Day Observances Honor War Dead in Frederick
Frederick and surrounding communities observed Memorial Day with solemn ceremonies at Mt. Olivet cemetery and Memorial Plot. The Scott Key Post drum corps led marches, World War II graves were decorated, and VFW and Legion members paid tribute as a new flag replaced the old at the monument. Other services and holiday activities occurred citywide, including Lions Club remembrances and extended park and crowd events.

Memorial Day services mark cemetery visits and honors
Legionnaires visited Park Heights St Mark's St Marys the colored Petersville cemetery and the Reformed cemetery in Knoxville with Rev Andrew B Jones officiating graves of war dead decorated. Memorial Day observances also held in Middletown by Valley Memorial Post No 9 Amvers and Everhart Post No 5. Flags placed on Lutheran and Reformed cemetery graves. Amvets provided firing squad and bugler. In Detroit an educator Dr Neil E Gordon 67 plunged from a hotel roof, despondent over health.

In Havre de Grace a 41 year old carpenter William T Wright drowned when an outboard boat overturned in the Susquehanna River. He, with three companions, fell overboard. Wright worked at the Army Chemical Center at Edgewood. Police Applicant Held After Altercation at Cafe
Charles Martin of 250 DID Avenue, an applicant for Frederick Police Department, was jailed Monday night on disorderly conduct and resisting arrest charges. Sergt Daniel Swomley said Martin was disorderly at a north end cafe. when cautioned, he assaulted the officer and knocked off hat and spectacles. Swomley subdued him and filed charges.
