James Henry Nichols 22 and Sidney Scott 30 of Dickerson were found guilty in Peoples Court of assaulting Rockville taxi driver Winfred Willard Brown 23 and of unauthorized use of the vehicle while transporting them to Dickerson. Scott and Nichols face sentencing as prosecutors described the events near Fur nace Ford with Brown fleeing at a tavern after Nichols controlled the car.

Washington May 31 union carpenters in the District of Columbia were set to strike tomorrow with about 5060 workers idle. B B Blackburn secretary treasurer of the Carpenters District Council said talks with the Master Builders Association had no progress on settlement of the wage dispute. Randall C Wyant Master Builders Association secretary put the potential walkout at up to 15000 other building trades workers. The carpenters seek a 10 cent hourly raise from 2.40 dollars.

4500 Signed Petition For Road Referendum
