Bower Named to Frederick District Court Judgeship
Frederick attorney Frederick J. Bower was named to the Frederick bench of Marylands District Court. California man charged in drug tampering cases
A 24 year old Temple City man, Edward Aries Marks, is charged with tampering consumer products by spiking Contac, Dietac and Teldrin capsules with warfarin rat poison. The FBI says he could face arraignment in Los Angeles on one count. Florida and Texas tampered capsules were found March 19 and 2. FBI notes fingerprints matched.

Marriott plans new Frederick plant adding 105 jobs
Marriott will build a 14.8 acre, one story data processing facility south of Frederick. It will house Computer Systems for the international reservations system and payroll support, with 24 hour operation and its own backup power. Groundbreaking is planned for mid to late summer with opening in May 1987 and 140 employees by 1990. The site is part of the Westview office research park, reviewed by the Frederick County Planning Commission on June 11.

Barber faces suspended jail term for gambling
A Frederick barber was fined and given a suspended jail sentence after pleading guilty to gambling charges. Police linked a gambling operation at his shop on Mills Road, with investigators reporting about 7,250 dollars in a single day. The 45 year old man was not ordered to serve time in prison, with Judge Herbert L. Rosing Jr sentencing him on counts of gaming and related offenses. Continued on Page A.
