Divine Hesitancy On Church Union Stalls After Ten Years
The Consultation on Church Union known as COCU has lingered for a decade with critics arguing against a single large church. Local progress appears via grassroots action as churches cooperate, while national merger talks stall due to bureaucratic resistance and rising costs. In Iowa City Pentecost events drew nearly 10,000 as clergy emphasized local unity and organic church cooperation.

Two Natures in a Christian Life Teaching
A devotional explains victorious Christian living as active faith, not passive. It describes the two natures in believers, the old and new, likening the body to an earthen vessel and the Holy Spirit within. It urges ongoing struggle against the old nature to live out eternal life.
Cracking Vessels and the Need for Guarded Faith
A sermon likens Christians to clay vessels prone to crazing hairline cracks that allow earthliness to seep in and contaminate character. It warns against spiritual overconfidence and cites 1 Corinthians 10 12 urging vigilance to avoid fall. The message emphasizes the treasure within despite flaws and the devil’s unseen threat.
