Bridge Collapse Injures Truck Driver in Brewers Alley
Charles Schreyer of M J Grove Lime Company narrowly escaped injury when a bridge over Carroll creek in Brewers alley collapsed while his truck loaded with stone crossed it. The west beams failed, the truck fell ten feet into the stream but the driver was uninjured. The 1868 bridge, heavily used by heavy traffic, was pulled from the stream with a steam roller and repaired. the truck left the scene two hours later.

Ground broken for St James School near Hagerstown
Ground has been broken for the new St James School near Hagerstown at an estimated cost of 150000 dollars. The old building burned on March 3 and the new structure will house 100 boys with wings to be completed by September. Cornerstone set for June 9 at founders day with Bishop Murray and Governor Ritchie as guests. St James founded 1812 and guided later foundations including St Pauls Concord and St Marks Southboro.
