Memorial Day observes dampened by rain across Maryland
Rain and cool weather dampened the holiday as memorial ceremonies moved indoors or were canceled. In Timonium at Dulaney Valley Gardens about 200 gathered for a service as an Army National Guard band played. Survivors spoke of missing loved ones like Captain von Robertson Dunham, lost in 1952 and found remains in Arlington. Other families voiced frustration at elusive closures and excavations. Schools in Baltimore County opened to make up snow days, while beaches and routes saw sparse crowds and light traffic.
