Bridge error leads to doomed slam in spade sequence

West ruffed and led back a trump causing South's slam to vanish. If South had paused at trick two, he could have made the hand. The optimal line: ruff a low spade, win the diamond finesse, and lead another low spade. If West does not ruff, draw trumps and concede a diamond. If West ruffs, discard a diamond from dummy. West's best play is to ruff a diamond, return to his hand, ruff clubs, draw trumps, then spread the hand.
