Take A Lesson From Larceny Lou in Play

In a bridge hand West opens with diamonds and Larceny Lou declares. He wins four clubs two hearts and two diamonds and must time spades to preserve a ninth trick. By forcing dummy to ruff a club and leading a spade from dummy he creates a path to the spades while West struggles with diamonds. East errs by attacking hearts, and Lou succeeds by drawing the lead and capitalizing on the long diamond holding. The lesson is to force high cards from a long suit to entice defense.
