WAR ABOLITION URGED AT GENEVA MEETING
Belgium Senator M De Brouckere urged immediate disarmament to curb chemical warfare and the use of air bombs threatening major cities including New York Paris London and Berlin. He called for supervision of all airplane and poison gas equipment and immediate action by nations without waiting for lengthy treaties. He warned that hesitations would burden weaker nations and emphasized mutual assistance schemes over League of Nations pacts. The debate over offensive versus defensive arms dominated Geneva discussions with differing views among French British and American delegates. Also noted progress at St James School in Hagerstown toward a new building, with $125,000 to $150,000 sought and over $60,000 raised so far.
