Grange meeting May 10 plans June 2 visit and sewing contest

The Glade Valley Grange held its regular meeting on May 10 with Master Bruce Crum presiding. Routine business included accepting an invitation from Jefferson Grange to visit on June 2 and present the program. The House Economics committee will run the next meeting and announced the year’s sewing contest. The literary program was planned by the dairying committee and included group singing.

Farm show highlights dairy, soil and profits emphasis

Roy Berthlow and William Peiffer performed harmonica selections, a mixed quartet sang, and Pauline Kehne read a poem titled The Farmer. Upton Quinn of Chestnut Farms Dairy introduced a National Dairy Products movie on nutritious hay programs, stressing financial gains and soil conservation.

Crab Pickers Strike at Cambridge Food Houses
