Professionals should be called in to handle wildlife
The Frederick County Humane Society and the county Department of Animal Control cannot treat wild animals. Four animal control officers are not enough to manage wildlife, so wildlife rehab requires a special permit. The Opossum Pike Veterinary Clinic treats injured wildlife, volunteers their services, and operates a wildlife fund for costs. Never raise or keep wild animals as pets. licensed rehabilitators care for them until release. Contact Humane Society or Animal Control for a list of cooperators and rehabilitators in Frederick area.
