Dr. Michael Hanoa Jr of the Frederick Cancer Research Center said the FDA should act within a month to ban methapyrilene after FCRC researchers linked it to liver cancer in mice. The finding, presented to the National Cancer Institute clearinghouse, prompted calls for action as FDA advisers prepare a June 22 review. an estimated 10 million Americans use products containing the chemical.
