Becks assessment plan grants yearlong reprieve on increases
Frederick County property owners will receive at least a one year reprieve from assessment increases under Maryland's plan to implement a new triennial system. The Department of Assessments and Taxation releases a timetable for 1980 reassessments affecting about 14 000 of the county's 40 000 properties with many districts scheduled to be reassessed over two or three year cycles. Lumen Norris notes staff has begun field inspections in Urbana Ballenger Woodville New Market and other areas with assessors visiting residences and informing residents prior to inspections.

Five names proposed for county liquor post by Democrats
The Frederick County Democratic State Central Committee voted to forward five names for county liquor license commissioner to Gov. Hughes without recommendation. The candidates are Cameron Behne, Dennis L. Cooper, John Best, Maurice T. Floyd, and Sheridan Barber. Carty’s prior recommendation to reappoint him was withdrawn amid allegations of accepting gifts of liquor from dealers.
