Loats Fund grants $265,450 to area youth organizations
The John Loats Trust Fund of Frederick awarded 11 grants totaling 265450 to support youth care and education in Frederick County. County housing chief resigns in Frederick County
Joseph A Kellogg Frederick County housing administrator resigned after a salary dispute with county commissioners. Weekend events dampened by morning rain
Friday evening and Saturday morning rain dampened Frederick County weekend plans though many activities proceeded. The Family Festival sponsored by Frederick Life Underwriters was postponed and will run May 26 from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. in Baker Park with fishing, jogging, 4-H demonstrations, jousting, a bathtub race, and hot air balloon displays. Hood College held its commencement at 10:30 a.m. with speakers Dr. Arlene Raven and Dr. K Patricia Cross as about 270 undergrads and 65 graduates received diplomas. Open House at Fort Detrick and various area Open Houses continued as scheduled subject to weather. Graduation ceremonies at Mount St. Mary’s and other events were planned with rain contingency details noted.

Longer lines expected at area gas stations
