Cahill Fulfills Dream as Army Head Coach
West Point named Tom Cahill head football coach after Dietzel left for South Carolina. Cahill, 46, ex infantry officer and Army freshman coach since 1959, was a late choice amid talks with several candidates led by Bobby Dobbs. He stressed spring practice focus and noted the intrasquad game revealed a reshaped Cadet offense with plebes OToole Lindell sharing quarterback duties and Gary Steele excelling as receiver.

Coach's one year contract fuels coaching speculation
The discussion centers on a one-year contract for Cahill and a report that he may be replaced by Dobbs at the end of the term. If Cahill's deal is substantial, Army could reconsider another coaching change and keep him longer.

Appeals Court Broadens Oath Rule to Civil Jury Trials
The Maryland Court of Appeals rules its belief-in-God standard, established in a criminal case, also applies to civil cases tried by jury but cannot be made retroactive. The decision stems from a Montgomery County personal injury case where Charles Schiller argued the jury was improperly sworn. The court previously made the ruling retroactive in criminal cases only.
