Jail Escapee Captured in Frederick County
James Robert Mercer, 19, who escaped from the Frederick County Jail on Saturday, was captured Monday evening. Police spotted him around 5:40 pm walking on East Fifth Street and he fled to Sagner's Inc. Officers cordoned the building and Mercer was found hiding in the basement. He was serving a 14 month sentence for auto larceny and other motor vehicle offenses.
