McCaffrey House Demolished for Parking Lot in Frederick
An 18th century West Patrick Street home, once a colonial dignitary residence, is being demolished for a parking lot. The McCaffrey house, evacuated as unsafe, yielded its ornate interior pieces to antique dealers and collectors. The building’s exact age remains undetermined, though Flemish bond brickwork suggests the 1700s.

The McCaffrey House Fades Into Memory in Frederick
Frederick streets once held a meticulous resident and his popular wife Mrs. Mary McCaffrey who, after his death, lived on the second floor with sisters Miss Stella and Miss Jane Heiberger. At eighty six, she moved to relatives in Washington where she soon died. Early April saw heirs sell the Patrick street property by public auction at the Court House door. Ground may be more valuable without buildings, as the McCaffrey land will soon be parking space for automobiles for the Frederick Motor Company led by president Warfield.
