Storm Strikes Montgomery County Areas
A severe electrical storm swept Montgomery County and nearby areas Friday afternoon bringing heavy rain hail and downed trees. The Potomac Edison main line into Poolesville was broken by a toppled tree leaving some residents without power for about two hours. Hail reported near New Market Urbana and Featville with light rainfall in other zones. In Frederick the storm dropped temperatures from 66 to 45 F with 0.44 inches of precip at the airport. traffic was snarled until 7 pm and a rainbow appeared as skies cleared. The Weather Bureau forecast a cool spell into Sunday with a rise to around 70 by Armed Services Day.
